Wine Range

Wairau River Wines is unique in that we are completely family owned and we own all our vineyards. This means we use only our own fruit enabling us to control quality from vine to bottle. The river pattern on the label symbolises the family roots with its interwoven strands moving together in the same direction.

Estate Range

Our flagship wine is Sauvignon Blanc, while the rest of the portfolio comprises Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Viognier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Estate range of wines is about wines that are true to their varieties and also give you a sense of place. They are typically elegant in style expressing the sites with careful winemaking to make the best style from the variety and region.

Home Block

In 1978 on the banks of the Wairau River, Phil and Chris Rose planted their first vines, thus starting a tradition of crafting world class wines which continues today. The river pattern also symbolizes the family roots with its interwoven strands moving together in the same direction. We are honouring this foresight by releasing this range of single vineyard wines expressing the unique terroir of this 'home block' site. All these wines are fermented with indigenous yeast as a component, have French oak fermentation as part of the winemaking process and are hand harvested.

Reserve Range

Carefully selected parcels of fruit which we believe epitomize Marlborough will be shown within this range. The range will be evolving each year as each vintage brings new characters, dimensions and flavour profiles.
